In 2022 we can expect an increase in Instagram ad spending in line with increased usage and better advertising options on the platform. Another shift you should expect is a steady increase in the number of people using Snapchat. Facebook is likely to remain the dominant social media platform. However, more and more young users still prefer Instagram.

Digital Marketing Trend #1: Artificial Intelligence and machine learning 

Hubspot defines Artificial intelligence (AI) as a branch of computer science that teaches the machine to think and act like a human being. It is all about teaching the computer to replace us.

Meanwhile, machine learning runs behind AI algorithms; it is about teaching the computer to replace the human element, training the machine what a human brain cannot grasp quickly. For example, future predictions based on current patterns.

A great example of AI is when your Facebook Messenger sends auto-responses to your Facebook followers on your brand’s behalf.

Another example is Amazon. A company is already using AI to analyse online consumer behavior and suggest products. They didn’t even know they wanted or needed it. There are many other similar examples.

So in 2022, irrespective of your industry, AI will have the potential to help convert more customers.

Digital Marketing Trend #2: Voice Search

More and more people in 2022 are using voice search instead of typing. Smart devices like smart speakers accelerate this new behavior of searching for information and the Google Dot and Apple’s.

According to research by BrightLocal, 58% of consumers have used voice search to find local business information in the last 12 months, and 46% of voice search users look for a local business daily. This trend continues almost every day.

So, businesses looking to get found in 2022 should ensure that their primary business information is correct.  This will help users to find it using a voice search.

Optimising your website for voice search will enhance the chances of appearing on the first page of Google. For example, writing meta-descriptions of websites might need to be optimised for speech so that it “reads better” out loud when being spoken.
