One position of South African three Reserve Bank (Sarb) Deputy Governors, which became vacant after Lesetja Kganyago’s elevation to Governor, has now been filled by Kubi Naidoo, according to a press release from the Central Bank mailed to media houses including Transform SA Online.
Naidoo will serve for five years with effect from April 1 2015. He will be one of the three deputy governors who are appointed by the president.
Prior to his appointment, Naidoo has been serving as an adviser to the governor of the Reserve Bank, and is also a member of the monetary policy committee.
He has worked as deputy director general responsible for the budget office at the National Treasury and spent two years at the Treasury of the United Kingdom, where he worked on capital budgets and biannual spending reviews.
The media statement quotes Zuma as saying: “We wish the new deputy governor all the best in the execution of this critical responsibility in our country’s socio-economic dispensation,” said Zuma.

I only hope against hope that he has made it on merit, not under the banner of his party colours. Good luck anyway!
