Transform SA Online editorial board is loath to lavishing praise on people who are paid to conduct public duty by tax payers’ money. But it is not misdemeanour, once in a while, to extend plaudits to public servants whose performance has been outstanding. And one of such rare breed is the Minister of Justice, Micheal Masutha.
The bespectacled soft-spoken with a laidback but firm demeanor has risen to prominence as a hands-on justice minister. His profile has certainly risen during his announcement of the state’s decision to appeal the judgment of the Oscar Pistorius trial. His simple articulation of complicated legal jargon to the public has increased public awareness about their constitutional rights.
More of a technocrat than an out and out politician in the mold of just like the former minister of finance Nhlanhla Nene, Masutha, who is partially visually impaired, is a role model for those people committed to rise above their underprivileged circumstances and reach their ultimate goal.
Everyone looks forward to seeing Masutha continuing his stellar work in 2016.
