BMF TO ADDRESS THE UNFINISHED BUSINESS OF ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

The Black Management Forum has begun preparations for a webinar series to address the unfinished business of economic transformation.

As a custodian of transformation and drivers of thought leadership, the BMF has identified that newer and stronger arguments must be made that socio-economic transformation in South Africa has not been realised. While many important socio-economic and environmental problems remain intractable, a combination of increased awareness, new technology, adequate funding, and more collaboration among corporates, civil society, and government can affect social change.

The series, to be held under the theme “THE UNFINISHED BUSINESS OF ECONOMIC

EMPOWERMENT” will commence on the 23rd of July 2020 with an inaugural webinar

lecture presented by renowned African Scholar, Prof. Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba on the,

  • “The Role of the Black Middle Class in building an equitable, just and fair society”.

The webinars are aimed at providing a platform for critical conversations, focusing attention

on areas where the lack of transformation is most keenly felt. The series is also expected

to exhaustively deal with the following subjects:

  • Women’s seat in the boardroom.
  • Exploring the effect of public policies in Africa and the leadership challenge for socioeconomic transformation in South Africa”; Business, Government, Labour, Civil Society- IN IT TOGETHER.

Follow-up in-depth conversations on these topics will be available on the BMF’s new

transformatics podcasts available on all major platforms.
