New SABC CEO: more of the same or new path to growth?

doubt
Most analysts posit that SABC’s chronic problems are mainly rooted in poor corporate governance practice or lack of it. New appointments have flattered to deceive – promising new dawns of radical change for the better which never materialise.
It should be understandable then why the appointment of Frans Matlala as the public broadcaster’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has not caused excitement amongst the skeptical loyal television licence payers.
Frans Matlata has been working as a consultant to the SABC for project management and strategic advisory services.
Matlala is not entirely new to the corporate world, unlike others who have been labelled as political appointees, who lack pertinent experience.  He held a number of senior executive positions at places such as Standard Bank, African Life SA, First National Bank and South African Breweries, and lists a graduate diploma in engineering, a B.Sc in chemistry and a M.Sc degree.
His predecessor Lulama Mokhobo shockingly quit last year after only serving 14 months of her five year tenure.
The million rand question in the minds of SABC TV licence payers is: Is Matlala the new man to steer the organisation towards a trajectory of profitability?
